March Comes to an End

I realized that if I wanted to get anything more done this month I had about an hour to do it. I've almost forgotten how to enter a new post. March flew by. Maybe it was because of all the wind we had.
Last Wednesday we went with friends on a 4 wheeling ride out near the Pink Coral Sand Dunes.
Laron & Linda, Lee & Klea, Karl & Terrie, Kenneth & Venna, and Chuck & I.

We revisited the Ponderosa Campground--
where we camped and went on many jeep trips in the good ole days.

He blocked the road so that we wouldn't leave him there.
Chuck went back to the truck after his trusty toolbox.
The rest of us had lunch.

The bolts were sheared off the thingy that holds the wheel on.
The guys used their good looks and mechanical abilities (and tool box supplies)to attach the wheel back on to continue the ride. Klea wanted to know if the job came with a warranty.

We rode over hill and dell to get to the lookout toward the East. We could see Kanab.
The sandstone rock formations were interesting and enchanting too. It was kind of like being in Gnomesland.

This picture was disappointing--it makes the road/trail look way easy to climb and go back down. I got out of the Rhino and climbed the hill on foot, so I was darn sure to ride on the way down. Terrie screamed, but she stayed in. All four wheels were not touching the ground at the same time.
We stopped at Little Creek Station for supper. Some of the savvy ones in the group called their orders in on their cell phones. The rest of us waited a long time for the good food.
We've made plans for another riding trip soon. Laron has planned for the Lake Powell area.
It's great to have good friends!
I think it strengthens a relationship to be with other couples. I'm so glad to have such a good guy for the other half of my couple!

Sista's Get Away

This is one of the best places we have eaten tacos at. The apple soda is so good too.
It took us a while to find this hidden eatery and it would have been good to be able to communicate in Spanish.
We are into avocados and chips and salsa! Yum!!

Venna brought us new pj's. I was trying to set my camera timer and get back to the pix. I never did make it and then my camera fell off the TV onto the tiled floor so I quit trying and was happy to have my camera still working even though I now have to hold down the lens cover and take 1 picture at a time.

BYU Hawaii VS Red Storm

Tonight a bunch of the Segler Family went to Carl Jr's to enjoy flame broiled hamburgers at 6p.m. Some of the gang didn't show so we ate without them.

We joined up at the Dixie College/Burns Arena to watch a competitive game between the Red Storm and BYU (do they have another name?)
Hawaii's #33 is Rick & Susan's daughter Shauna's husband --- Jermaine Odjegba.

They were both energetic and fun to watch.
The ref's ran a tight calling game.

I think the girls are crazy to sit so close to the playing floor.
They are like the matadors to temp the bulls
and they had some near wipe outs.

Costco Muffins & Popcorn

While Chuck and I were at Costco I was hungry and so all the food looked good. It was too late in the day to eat the samples in lieu of dinner. I took a look at the muffins and found that the bakery has added a new variety. Raisin Bran! I can report that they are very good and I'm sure they are healthy too. All that fiber and nutrition---they must be. We've eaten muffins for breakfast all week and the only one left is a poppy seed.
Next time I might get the package with only bran muffins and then the chocolate ones won't be calling out to me.

I used the Costco coupon to try this box of popcorn. The bag popped clear full, which is better than the other bags I have been popping for the grandkids lately. Microwave popcorn tends to get old quickly and doesn't pop as well as when fresh.
I got the 94% fat free so that I wouldn't put on a pound every time I had some. My report is that it's also 94% less tasty than good home popped or a buttered movie tub. 28 bags to go.

The Pocket

I forgot to put the pix of the pocket in the last post--it was long enough anyway.
This is the dam that was built to catch and hold water for cattle. The Whitney's must have built a pocket (water catchment) and then it was improved (some people say the original worked better) upon when the CCC projects were being done. It is built of cut stone (goodness knows there is no shortage of that in the area)and mortar/cement.
There is a spigot at the bottom of the dam.

I climbed to the top and found that the steps were built for long legs. Each riser was so tall that I really had to stretch to get myself up. It would have been easier if Pronsie hadn't been in my arms. When we got to the top step, I sat down and took a picture---then I looked down and saw how high I was and decided not to walk on the top or play around getting down.
Just look at Pronsies ear sticking out--it was scary!

Whitney Pockets/Gold Butte

There are so many place to see and explore that are not very far away. Chuck has been with the scouts and friends to these interesting places, but I never had until last weekend. We turned off at the Bunkerville exit and traveled about an hour off the freeway.

We found this camp spot at the end of the paved road. Isn't it gorgeous?

What a sky! It was supposed to rain on us--but sprinkled only a little.

An old mine--I won't tell you if anyone went in exploring, but Linda and Lee and Drew and I didn't. The large rocks are a soft granite. I told Chuck I would like him to cut me some countertop out of it.

We saw a large herd of wild burros. I wanted to bring a little one home.

Craft Project

I brought work home to do last night because it seems that I can't get it all done in a day sometimes. Some weeks I work and some weeks I play. This week Ryan and Chani took their little family to Anaheim so I went to work every day---That's a switch lately.
After supper Chuck and I put these little gate drive transformers on styro. Today I packaged them and sent them on a Fed Ex plane ride to Tyco in Massachusetts They go in some kind of safety products, like alarms. Chuck designed these little HL-8356's about 25 years ago and they are still a good selling item to go in power supplies.
This is the kind of craft projects that I have done for years. Holly actually made all of these parts. 1000 pcs. She has been busy !
This week we have shipped various inductors and transformers around the US, Shanghai China and South Korea. Business has slowed down, but we haven't been out of work. We count our blessings.
